Hinge of History: The Bethlehem Story

Jesus was born in Bethlehem.  Why? It’s just a tiny, insignificant village!  Why should God become Man somewhere so marginal?  Through December, we will explore together the 2000-year story of the Little Town of Bethlehem from Genesis to Jesus’ birth.  On our pilgrimage we will encounter unlikely heroes, ancient oracles and overlooked crevices of Bible history.  When we finally gaze on the baby in the manger, we will do so from a richer, sweeter and deeper perspective.  Bethlehem is the tiny hinge upon which the great door of history opens.

If you are moved by these themes, then this is the advent reading for you: honour-shame, marginalization, incarnational mission, liberation, diversity, grassroots, conscientisation, the poor and downtrodden, Gospel.

A.M. has written 24 devotionals to help us journey to Bethlehem through advent. If you would like to receive a daily devotional reading (1st-24th Dec) via email, to encourage you through this Christmas season, sign up by clicking here and join us as we explore ‘The Bethlehem Story’.  (You will not automatically receive emails unless you sign up!)
